MACEDON. Akanthos. Circa 470-430 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 17.00 g, 9 h). Lion to right, attacking a bull collapsing to left with head raised; above, ΔΙ; in exergue, two laurel branches. Rev. ΑΚ[Α]-Ν-ΘΙΟ-Ν Raised quadripartite square with granulated fields surrounded by inscription; all within shallow incuse square. Desneux - (-/R103). HGC 3.1, 385. Well centered and of vigorous style. Harshly cleaned, otherwise, good very fine.
